A long-awaited transition into southern traditional interior design strikes a Florida Interior Design Firm.
Where do your passions lie? Do you follow them forever? Do they change or evolve? According to Kelly Kaiser-Putnam of Orange Moon Interiors “you get to a certain age in life that you want to do work that fulfills your soul and will outlast your mortality.” Kaiser’s relentless passion has blossomed into Orange Moon Interiors latest project, dubbed “Southern Charm”. With the home dressed in antique heirlooms, classic botanical patterns, and rich tones that exude hospitality, it is the perfect title that ultimately shows where the future of design is headed as we as a society crave home, family, and nostalgia.
Living, Dining Room, and Kitchen
Step inside the Osprey, Florida property that needed more personality and charm than the movie Steel Magnolias. It is hard to believe that this home was, in fact, a spec home. With the blessing of the homeowners, Kaiser dove deep into her love for Southern, traditional interior design. The three-bedroom, three-bathroom home backs up to a wetland preserve. The backyard boasts sightings of pileated woodpeckers, cardinals, herons, and a menagerie of other birds native to Florida.

The focal point of the family room showcases a timeless red brick fireplace and a white wood mantel that balances the rustic and traditional design. This room is beautifully styled with a chinoiserie focus. The lanterns add a coastal and traditional style. Each item selected offers meaning and a family focused aesthetic. “A home without family photos is just a showroom,” says Kaiser.

Kaiser encapsulates timeless, high-end traditional living with this room that is open into the kitchen. Southern charm and layered magazine-worthy styling make this the perfect area to linger with family, friends, and a banquet with enough room for a litter of young grandchildren. The ceiling features white painted tongue-and-groove paneling and exposed wood beams in a medium walnut tone. Again, the continuity of red brick maintains the warmth and texture throughout the home. Floor-to-ceiling French doors and windows let in the southern sunshine. You can also see a bit of colonial and English influences in the interior decorating.

With the kitchen open to the main living area, the traditional design continues. The color white is perfectly done as it is warm and inviting, not stark. Expertly done lighting and glass cabinets showcasing more blue and white pottery and dishes.
Imagine impressing your guests with this dining room – more practically, it fits the whole family for special occasions. Invite them to have a seat at the British Colonial mahogany wood table and chippendale-style chairs. No detail is overlooked with a custom sized gilded mirror and Italian sideboard.
The Sun Room

The compliments of pattern, color, and richness are impeccable by Kaiser. The creative way of bringing the preserve indoors is an exciting wow factor. An Italian credenza and lanterns frame the framed tv in the most beautiful way. “This Schumacher fabric inspired this whole room and it is a classic stunner,” says Kaiser. .

The Bar

This bar is a statement in elevated taste with timeless elegance. Fit for a southern gentleman, this area features a built-in bar with custom cabinetry, burnished brass Cremone bolts, and marble countertops. “The cremone bolts made all the difference here!”
The Office

Custom. Custom. Custom. According to Kaiser, it is something Orange Moon Interiors excels at. “This is a multi-functional room. The homeowner requested a murphy bed as an additional guest bedroom and an office with substantial storage. We achieved this goal,” says Kaiser. Every moment should be a design moment. These cabinets are wrapped in a moody navy lacquer and paired against a whimsical toile wallpaper. The illuminated bookcase is an unexpected aspect and the perfect place to display vintage keepsakes and stories.
The Casita of the Courtyard

Is it even Southern without a pineapple accent? The Southern roots run deep with the casita. “The casita is a separate guest house off of the courtyard pool that feels very Charleston, South Carolina in Florida. We need more charm, more provenance like Charleston here in Florida, and Orange Moon Interiors is bringing it.”
The Master Bedroom and Ensuite

The master bedroom and ensuite manage to be bold and soft at the same time—a creamsicle color palette of mint green and pale pink blends seamlessly together. A delicate mix that can only be pulled off by professionals. The skirted cream settee and tufted round ottoman give an inviting sitting area at the foot of the bed. Perfect for your morning coffee or a spot to unwind in the evening. The vintage-inspired drapery wrap the windows in the most romantic way. “It is British Colonial with a feminine touch,” says Kaiser.
The ensuite features a classic penny tile floor and colorful wallpaper, accented by the custom green cabinetry. Together, the two rooms make the perfect dwelling for homeowners.
The Courtyard

The design of this courtyard began a few years back. See the details here: https://orangemooninteriors.com/make-the-most-of-your-outdoor-oasis-with-expert-design/
Orange Moon Interiors utilized 3D rendering to help visualize the courtyard design. “The garden pool in this particular job that we are doing is such a fantastic solution for this type of layout. Not only is it very southern, but it really creates such an inviting space,” says Kaiser. The courtyard truly transports you to the southern homes on King Street in Charleston, South Carolina.
Kaiser proves to be a master of interior design. She has high hopes for the future of her firm. “Our mission is to bring charm and soul to the soulless, cold dwellings. Now that’s a design that will last long after I’m gone.”
