We’re traveling to Florida’s sunny shores today because we spotted a number of our products in the beautiful interiors transformed by the owner and lead designer of Orange Moon Interiors in Sarasota. The Kelly Kaiser lighting picks are featured in this post along with an interview about what draws the talented designer to our offerings. After her answers that flatter us so beautifully, we feature a bit more about this dynamo so be sure to read on.

We asked Kelly if there were specific aspects about our products that draw her to them. She said, “Over the years, we have never been disappointed with the quality of Currey products: we are always to excited to receive them because they are even more beautiful in person than they are online! It’s incredibly helpful to us that Currey offers coastal-inspired chandeliers that are not kitschy, but are timeless and beautifully made.” We are fascinated by how she uses black in even the palest backdrops to add powerful contrasts and asked her to tell us about this predilection. She answered, “Black is a great anchor for a room, even in a coastal environment—I love the contrast.” We wondered if being situated on the Gulf Coast swayed her decisions about which of our offerings she chooses. She said, “Certainly. The white casted textures are a big hit with us for our coastal homes and the basket weaves are still going strong for a timeless coastal vibe.”

We noticed how many different shades of blue she uses in her projects—an array that is far beyond aqua blues—so we asked her how important the color is in her paint box? She responded, “Very important. People have strong opinions about color since each color evokes a mood or a memory. It’s helpful that Currey has chandelier choices with color, not just all neutrals. Sometimes a pop of unexpected color in lighting brings the ‘wow’ factor that we look for.” We spotted one of our white Piero Pendants in a breakfast nook she designed (shown above). The basket weave worked so well with the colorful fabric she chose for the valance and the cushions. We asked her what inspired her to put the fixture in this space. She told us, “That chandelier is one of our ‘go-to’ products because it has three lights inside of it. Most other woven basket pendants, no matter how large, only have one bulb inside which is not enough lighting for most applications. Selecting the white one was a great contrast against the playful fabric and the light carried through the coastal style from the rest of the home.

Finally, we asked Kelly if she has a favorite product in our lineup that she has used time and again. “She said, “I do. I have used the Sommelier and Vintner Chandeliers in the white and the green color. The recycled wine-bottle glass is cut and designed so beautifully you would never know that it is manufactured with recycled wine bottles. I’ve used that chandelier in hallways, foyers, bathrooms, and dining rooms. Also the Denison lanterns in all of the various sizes go with almost everything. I’ve got my eye on the blue Penelope chandelier to use this year: It’s very inspiring!” Kelly is also a fan of the Seaward Chandelier that she chose for the coastal villa below.
